Ms Robyn Williams began her career as a journalist and copywriter. Following a brief time as a writer with Palamedia, Ms Williams was quickly promoted to Senior Editor when only in her early twenties. After several senior editorial positions, including Senior Supervisory Editor at Lexis Nexis (one of the world’s leading legal publishers), Ms Williams became a Media Advisor with Monash University, and later a Communications Manager for the Monash Warwick Alliance (an international, interdisciplinary partnership between Australia’s largest university and the University of Warwick in the UK). These roles required superior communication, writing and editing skills, and an intimate knowledge of the tertiary, media and publishing landscapes.

Throughout this time, Ms Williams leveraged her specialist legal and academic editing skills and began a lengthy career, alongside Dr Lines, as an academic editor. Ms Williams has firsthand experience in balancing work, family and study, and is passionate about supporting those enduring similar challenges.

Accredited with the Institute of Professional Editors and a member of Editors Victoria and Writers Victoria, Ms Williams is responsible for the training of Capstone Editing’s academic editing team. Ms Williams has also mentored postgraduate students and delivered editing and writing workshops around Australia. As an experienced journalist and public relations practitioner, Ms Williams has extensive experience in media training and crisis communications, particularly in the academic and legal sector. An expert in communications, Ms Williams has consulted widely with many clients from a variety of sectors, conducting communications audits and advising on media strategies.

Ms Williams’s combined academic and professional experience has equipped her with the skills necessary to provide expert training to academics, professionals and postgraduate students.
